Stewards of Eden in Clean Energy Action.
Today, Stewards of Eden and youth demonstrated an improved solar oven as part of our clean energy work. We are happy that this new oven performed better than the previous one, reaching up to 124°C. With only sunlight, we were able to cook rice and peas successfully. This shows how solar ovens can help youth and communities reduce the use of charcoal, firewood, gas, and other fuels that harm the environment and contribute to climate change. Solar Ovens for a Greener Muhanga District.
Student members of Stewards of Eden Rwanda successfully conducted a solar oven experiment using locally available materials. The project demonstrated its effectiveness by cooking an omelette in one of the solar ovens. Building on this success, we aim to upgrade the ovens with improved materials that can capture and retain higher levels of solar energy, enabling the cooking of foods that require more heat, such as beans.
